What To Expect

Al Zubara Fort
For our ancestors, Al Zubarah was a thriving pearl fishing and trading port. Now it’s Qatar’s largest heritage site, with its impressive city wall, ancient residential palaces and houses, markets, industrial areas and mosques.

It’s one of the best-preserved examples of an 18th and 19th century Gulf merchant town and in 2013 was named a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Al Khor
Also spelled Al Khawr means "sea on threesides" in Arabic. Older than Doha but far smaller in size. Al Khor is located an easy 50 kilometres to the north of Doha. It used to be the center of the pearling industry in Qatar but lost its importance after the introduction of cultured pearls. It now boasts a scenic harbour where you can find traditional fishing dhows, a corniche leading to mangrove colonies and a museum showcasing the fishing, pearling and dhow building industries.

Al Jumail
Al Jumail, an abandoned pearling and fishing village north-east Qatar, which was founded in the 19th century and was inhabited well into the 20th century, prior to the economic boom that the petroleum and gas industry brought along. The town's name comes from the Arabic word "jameel", which means "beautiful"; a reference to the trees that grow in the area year-round. According to Wikipedia, In the 1820s, George Barnes Brucks was tasked with preparing the first British survey of the Persian Gulf and He documented Al Jumail in this survey, referring to it as "Yamale".

This was an amazing tour! You get to see beautiful landscapes and much of Qatar.
But the best thing was travelling with Adnan. He is the best guide I've ever had. I learnt a lot from him, and he was kind, friendly, patient, and flexible with all my requests. I can't recommend him highly enough.
Only great memories of this day!

I wanted to see more than Doha in Qatar and I wasn't disappointed. With Adnan, an experienced guide and a careful driver, we drove from Doha to the north.
With many stops on the way.
He gave me good explanations of every important buildings, sites and the culture of Qatar. We visited a fishing market, we stopped to see the mangroves, the Zubara Fort and an abandonned Qatari village.
It was very interesting and no stress with him, he takes the time that we need.
I recommand Adnan as a guide, I really enjoyed talking and joking with him (he has a very good sense of humor).
Thank you!

A very enjoyable experience to north Qatar with Asim. We visited Al Khor’s fish market first and then visited the purple island for the mangroves. The Zubarah Fort and the abandoned village were the highlights of the trip, where we learned a lot about Qatar’s past.

Asim was very kind and knowledgeable, and answered a lot of our questions on Qatar’s history, culture, and more. Would recommend the tour to anyone interested in the life beyond Doha and Qatari history

After two days of visiting the glitzy sights of Doha, we wanted to learn something about the rest of Qatar. This tour was a great choice — a blend of history, nature and daily life outside the capital. Shareef was an excellent driver and took good care of us.
Amazing experience

Visit of the North of Qatar
Irene P, 04-01-2023
We visited the sights mentioned in the program. Our guide Muhammad Ibtisam explained shortly about the sights, after that he started to listen to music. We were allowed only 15 minutes to visit the main sight Al-Zubarah fortress which made the visit very hasty. The last sight, an abandoned village was without great interest since we didn’t get any explanations about the place.
